Getting started

What Kili is, and what a partner does

The shape of the product, and where you fit in it.

The product

Kili sells eSIMs — mobile data that arrives by email and installs on a phone in about a minute, with no SIM card to post, collect or swap. A traveller buys a plan for where they are going, scans a code, and has data the moment they land.

Two directions of travel matter here. Inbound is somebody arriving in Ethiopia who needs local data. Outbound is somebody leaving Ethiopia who needs roaming where they are going. Most partners sell one far more than the other, and the dashboard does not assume which.

The four kinds of partner

Every partner account is one of four types. The type is not a label — it decides what the dashboard contains, how money moves, and what you are allowed to do.

Agent : Holds prepaid credit, buys at an agreed rate, and sets the price the customer pays. Sells at a counter, from a storefront, or by issuing eSIMs in bulk. Keeps the margin.

Reseller : Holds no credit. Sends people to Kili with a code or link; they pay Kili's price, and you earn commission on what they spend.

Corporate : Buys for its own people. Holds travel credit, issues eSIMs to staff, and can let employees request them through a portal. Never resells.

Creator : One person with an audience. Shares tracked links and a code, and earns commission. No team, no counter, no stock.

Note

If your dashboard is missing something this manual describes, it is almost certainly because your type does not have it. Ask Kili if you think the type is wrong — changing it is a two-minute job on our side.
